Director of Luta Hamutuk, Mericio Akara, said that civil society considers that based on the list that has been revealed to the public the Fifth Constitutional Government has implement an oligarchic system in the government.

“The Fifth Constitutional Government has implemented an oligarchic system, meaning that the government is led by a family in the government,” said Akara.

Akara said that the Fifth Constitutional Government should appoint Timorese who have the capacity to lead the country and not choose government officials from their families or their party because many Timorese have experience to hold a position in the government.

Akara called on Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão to exclude government officials who have engaged in corruption during the Parliament Majority Alliance (AMP) government.
